Court Counseling Services takes great pride in the accuracy of their screenings and assessments. All too often, many clients receive more treatment than necessary while others tend to receive insufficient treatment to be effective, resulting in the client receiving future alcohol/drug charges. CCS cross references the client's responses, tests scores, and intake to insure an accurate assessment.
Clients at CCS are treated with utmost respect and not as criminals. CCS will also notify the court, other referring agencies, and/or the MVD as to the client's completion of screening, and any recommendations for treatment or education. In many cases, the client will not have any further communication with the courts or referring agency because CCS will reply on the client's behalf as to their compliance or non-compliance.

General information regarding screening:
The purpose of alcohol/drug screening for the courts, an individual, or MVD is to determine what and how much, if any, education and treatment a client may need in order to avoid any future problems with alcohol and drugs and assist clients in dealing with substance abuse and/or dependence.
The process takes approximately 40 minutes to an hour and consists of three written psychometric tests and a one-on-one interview consisting of approximately 60 questions. The written test responses and the one-on-one interview are correlated with the person's past history and current history of use or abstinence.

Enrollment in alcohol/drug programs requires an evaluation or screen by a licensed alcohol screening agency. After the screen/evaluation, a referral is made to take to the agency with whom treatment will be given. Evaluations are only valid for 30 days.
The purpose of the screening/evaluation is to determine the specific needs of clients. If screened by Court Counseling Services, you do not necessarily have to do treatment with them. You will be given a minimum of three choices of agencies. In some cases, a treatment agency closer to where you live would be more convenient than attending CCS.
